impression about "WONDERERS"

 I think I am a sedentary because I fundamentally don’t like to go out of my home. Staying my home gives me more comfortable material advantages. But I always feel somewhere in my heart stressed when on holidays, I don’t go anywhere and only do my task.

 Today, I watched a short movie, which title is “WANDERERS”. The movie tells me two things.

 First thing is the answer to the question that I feel stressed on holidays. In the short movie, narrator says that “we invest far-off places with a certain romance”. That to say, human are creature who are instinctively eager to move and see new world, and they start to imagine the new world with a certain romance when they stay one place. So the answer to the first question is easy, I am human.

 Second thing is view about human movement. Before an engine is invented human go across the continent by ship with their hand. But now human can go anywhere in the world by plane, in which we have only to sit the seat. And from now, we can enjoy the advantages of space exploring age. Some day in the future, we will be able to go and live anywhere in the space, I believe.

 My senior once told me the goodness of backpacker. Through watching the short movie, I started to thing that backpacker is good way to move around the world. Because through backpacker experiences, we can touch and understand other culture, race and so on. It is true that backpackering has some negative point such as understanding different language, but touching and understanding different culture and race and so on itself is priceless experience, I think.

“Hi Chika!”

“Hi, Daiki!”

“Do you have any pet?”

“No, I have no pet. And you?”

“I have a rabbit. She is very cute”

“It sounds fun to play with her”, said Chika.

“What kind of  animals do you want to raise ?”

“I want to raise a snake.”

“Why?”, said Daiki.

“Because snake is very cute.”

“Really?”

“Don’t you think so?”

“No! I hate snake.”, Daiki shouted.

“Why do you hate”

“Because It has poison and very dangerous.”

“But a kind of snake I want to raise does not have any poison. So it’s not dangerous at all.”

“Um..”                           

“It is mild. Let’s go to buy one.”

“Do not say that stupid!!”, Daiki shouted again.

“The pet shop near here holds a snake sale.”

“We can’t buy it suddenly.”

“Why do you disagree with what I’m saying so.”, Chika lookd angry.

“Because it may bite my rabbit”

“Oh..”

”By the way, do you like cat or dog?”

“Yes, of course!”

”Which do you like better?”

“Cat!”, said Chika.

”Why? I think dog is better.”

“Cat is cuter than dog ”

”But I think dog is cuter than cat”

“Have you seen cats at Hirasuna dormitory”

”Yes”

“Were they cute?”

”Yes, they were very cute”

“Does it seem to be cuter than dog?”

”Yes!!”

“Then, Let’s buy a cat ”

”OK, let’s go to pet shop.”

　1st find popular cuisine

In Swaziland, there are many popular cuisine. For example, stew of meat, corn meal, grilled corn and marinated fish with tomato and chili pepper is popular.

　2nd find a representative recipe ~corn meal~

①Mix baking powder and flour, baking soda and sieve them.

②Mix eggs in the bowl first, and put sugar and salt into the bowl and mix well.

③Next, put milk and salad oil into the bowl and mix them. 

④Mix them with spatula and knead well.

⑤Pour the dough into the mold and heat them in the 180 degrees oven for 30-35 minutes.

　3rd explain the food of your country/the choice of recipe. & The popular food situation.

The food in Swaziland is mainly composed of meal and corn because Swaziland is landlocked country. Also the part Swaziland locate is very hot, so rice we eat everyday in Japan can not be cultivated. 

Majority race in Swaziland is Swazi, and their traditional cuisine is stew of meat, corn meal, grilled corn and marinated fish with tomato and chili pepper. 

　The reason why I chosen morn meal recipe is that it is rare in Japan and unique to the region Swaziland locate. In japan our staple diet is rice. And although wheat has been eaten gradually recent years, corn is thought to be  side dish or confectionery. But in contrast, Corn is main diet in Swaziland and rice is hardly eaten in that country. So I thought it must be chance to understand the difference  of food culture between Japan and Swaziland if I search the recipe made from corn.

　Popular food situation in Swaziland seems not to be different from Japan. Eat diet with whole family surrounding the table. And many food or side dishes are sold in markets. So I thought that food situation is not different around the world even if no matter how different the cuisine is.

Travel plans to Djibouti

Main purpose of this trip
Djibouti is not very big coutry, so two weeks is enough to go everywhere in Djibouti. We can visit every place where we want to go. We have knowleage of Africa, but it is only knowleage. How beautiful are oceans and lakes of Africa? How wonderful creatures in Africa? How do people live and what they think? These questions will be solved only by going there and looking at the reality. We want to touch the nature and culture of Djbouti and enjoy.

1. Place
Djibouti is a country in the northwestern part of Africa like the next figure. Djibouti is a small country. The area of Djibouti is about 1.3 times larger than that of Shikoku in Japan.


2. Climate
It is very dry in Djibouti because half of the country is desert. I want to note that there is a possibility of eye allergy caused by dust in the desert. Temperature of Djibouti is high, and the average temperature is higher than 25 degrees throughout the year.

3. Language
In Djibouti, French and Arabic are mainly used, so we have to learn one of these language and prepare a translator and beginner's books.

4. Culture
The 94% of people are Muslim and the rest of people are Christian. In short, Djibouti is an Islamic country. You must learn behavior in such country because they may be generous for foreigners in a case, but in another case they may be very strict and force you to behave like as Muslim regardless of whether or not  you are Muslim.  For example, they don't eat pork because they think of pigs as unclean animals. If you drink, you should be careful about other people. They may not allow you to do so. What you should be careful is not only for meal, so we have to learn what is taboo in the country.

5. Cloth
It is hot and dry in Djibouti, so you should select not thick clothes, but Djibouti is an Islamic country and you shouldn’t dress skimpily. If you check that, you don't have to worry about what you should wear. Casual wear is OK such as jeans, T-shirts and so on. In this travel, we put up with nice hotel, so if we prepare 3 or 4 sets of clothes, that's enough.

6. Money
Djibouti Franc is being used, and 1 Japanese Yen is equal to 1.7 Djibouti Franc. So Price is higher than Japan. You can change money even from the arrival in Djibouti, but not any ATM.
In this travel, we go to so many place and do a lot of things, so we need much many. We will have to have ¥200,000. In a whole trip, we will spend about 800,000 in this plan...

7 .Document
VISA must be obtained in advance. You can get it Djibouti embassy in Japan. You must pay ¥5000 for application and prepare some documents such as your passport, pictures and so on. In detail, check the next URL

8.Health standard
Health standard is low. Drinking raw water or eating raw vegetables, meat, fish may cause Acute Enterocolitis, Intertinal Parasitosis. So care must be taken to diet. In other, we should be careful because malaria is endemic.


What we do in Djibouti

(Day1.10/9)

You board an ANA 6635 Narita to Istanbul line at 11:15 and get to Istanbul at 18:55. After arrival, transfer the air plane and board Turkish Airlines 686 at 23:55 and arrive at Djibouti at 5:05 next morning.
 

(Day2.10/10)

Check in Djibouti Palace Kempinski where you regularly put up during the travel. After you get to the room, care jet lag and take some rest. Djibouti Palace Kempinski is said to be best hotel in Djibouti because it have firm security, provide hygienic and delicious meals.

(Day3.10/11)

In the morning, you enjoy swimming at the beach facing the hotel. In the afternoon, you participate in the whale shark tour. In this tour you can touch and swim together with whale shark.  Whale shark is so big that you will be afraid, but soon after that, you realize the animal is safe and become very fun.

Go to the lake Abe. Near the lake, you can see very large and tall tour of limestone. The spectacle will make you feel that the place is not on the Earth but on other planet. In fact, the lake was used to make a film "Planet of the Apes". The scenery shows that humans are very small for the Earth.
 


(Day5.10/13)
In Day5 and Day6, we are going to touch the culture of this country. In short, we go to the cities and suberbs and see people who live there. In Day5, we go to cities such as Djibouti ( in this case, Djibouti means not the country but the capital city of the country). We visit stores, talk with people, buy something unfamiliar to us and so on.

In Day6, we go to suberbs. What we try to do is not different from that of Day6, but we go to other area and will find other things. By comparing the life-style of people in cities with that of people in suberbs, we will realize the part of the reality of Africa.

(Day7.10/15)
In Day7, the purpose change very much. We go to Tadjoura which is a city near sea. Tadjoura is blue and white city and the color will make us feel this is the very city of sea. In Tadjoura, we walk aroud the city. After that, we try to snorkel. We will touch creatures in African sea and get excited.

In Day7 we try to snokel. In the next day, we try diving. It's really exciting too. In Djbouti, there are a lot of diving spots, so we have to enjoy diving!! Diving will show us other parts of creatures.



(Day9.10/17)
In Day7 and Day8, we go to sea. In Day9 we go to see mangroves. We need green too. We can explore for mangroves and will find cretures which we don't see in sea. Fortunately, thes mangrove area is near Djibouti city, so we can go there easilly.

Next, we go to one of the most popular spots in Djibouti. It is lake Assal where you can see the dynamic scenery. The lake was made by volcanic activity and locates in the -153 meters above sea level. In fact, the salinity level of lake Assal is higher thanDead Sea. We can enjoy floating. By the way, near the lake, you can bath in hot spring.

The next spot is one of the most popular spots in Djibouti too. We go to desert Bara where you can see the landscape like Grand Canyon. It is easy to move even in desert because new road was paved this year. You must be careful dust in desert.

We board a Turkish Airlines 687 at 12:10 and arrive Istanbul at 17:20. After arrival, transfer the air plane and board Turkish Airlines 52 at 1:00 and arrive at Tokyo at 18:30 next morning.

            United Kingdom Independence Party is going to gain the largest number of seats at Europe Parliament, while Labour and Tory struggling to make progress. The reasons of these expectation are first, depression across EU, second, large rate of opposition to immigration, third, civic scapegoat of depression in British. If these expectation are going to be realized, many change will happen. For example, some changes will happen in the undergoing negotiation of EPA between Japan and EU, and the in/out EU referendum. So it may influence Japanese policies to EU.

 

2.  (review)

       In EU parliament election, extreme right political parties is going to get seats from conservative one in many countries. But I think it is strange that some political parties gain so many seats drastically in Britain. Because Britain is the country whose election is the election between Labour and Tory. So I searched the reasons. That’s like following.

 

(1)  EU Parliament election isn’t concerned with national administration.

(2)  The awareness that this election isn’t concerned with my everyday life occurs among voter.

(3)  Hence, voter’s private opinions are reflected to the consequence.

(4)  So drastic changes often occur.

 

So it is natural that latest business climate are much reflected to the consequence.

      This time, the focus is whether anti-EU or not. And each party’s decision whether           anti or not mostly decide the consequence.

 

      In some reasons of voter’s decision, I’m interested in the “Scapegoat thinking”. 
      That is, many voter think recent depression in Britain is come from being member 

      of EU, while this thinking is not so valid. This thinking seems to come from   manipulation of public opinion, isn’t it? Hence, I think it is wrong to decide lightly. In addition, this decision may influence Japanese policies, it may not other business, it may our  business.

To-Do list for my first year at university

To-Do list for my first year at university

 

1.    Lose at least 10 kg

I put on about 10 kg during the examination term. During the examination term, every day I ate too many Macdonald’s hamburgers, potato chips, and other junk food. I also drank a lot of milk alone or with my friend every weekend. Then I noticed, “Oh My God! My weight has…!!”  I’ve never put on weight in such a short time, so it’s unbelievable, isn’t it? To lose weight, now, I run 7km, do some exercise, go boxing gym 2 or 3 times a week. So losing weight is being big part of my life now. I want to continue these activities long time.

 

2.    Read 100 books

I don’t like reading books so much, and have custom to read them. To improve them and get more education, I’m going to read 100 books. Especially during spring C module, I’m going to read 30 books. I want to read new genre. It contains poetry, historical novel, and so on. I also want to read novel written by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. If you have favorite books, Please recommend them to me.

 

3.    Travel abroad

Summer or spring vacation is longer than that of high school. So I can make enough room to go abroad. I’ve decided my first travel destination. That is Vietnam. The first reason why I’ve decided Vietnam is I’m attracted by Vietnamese artless character. My grandfather sometimes told me Vietnamese artless character and I came to be interested in Vietnam. Second reason is I want to eat Vietnamese food. It looks delicious for me. By bike or scooter, I want to spend 2 weeks traveling Vietnam.

 

4.    Exploring around Tsukuba

I’m from Iwate prefecture. And I know nothing about Ibaraki prefecture and Tsukuba. So I think it’s suitable for my first year To-Do task. But there is difficulty, I move only by bike. It’s difficult to explore Tsukuba by only bike, and it’s inevitable to use car or scooter. I need to get driver license during summer vacation. After I get car or scooter, first of all, I want to go the Fukuroda Falls which is about 120m long waterfall.

 

5.    Getting a grade of 800 on the TOEIC test

After entering Tsukuba university, I increasing came to realize how English communication is important. So I need to study English hard and learn to speak well. As a indicator of my English achievement, TOEIC test is effective. Through studying for the test, I want to get more utility English which is so-called English to speak. Finally, by the end of 1^st grade in this university, I surely get 800 point!  

 

6.    Cooking

I had never cooked before entering university, and now suffer deeply from cooking. As I have never thought the difficulty of cooking, every day, while struggling with cooking, I thank for my parents for having cooked for me. My cooking repertoire is now only some Japanese and Chinese foods. I’m going to learn cooking and make European or other new dishes. Anyway, I must improve that bad taste.

7.    Operating computer

Now, I’m typing all these words with forefinger. So It’ll take long time to get this work finished. Needless to say, improving typing skill is first task. Operating Windows office softs like Excel, Power point and Word is second task. In my majoring department, Social Engineering, all these tasks are essential. So I must learn quickly.  

 

8.    Reading newspaper

Reading newspaper is my new custom added after entering university. First, I took long time to read whole articles and thought it’s impossible to read up every day. But gradually I came to get the knack of it and now I can read up every day. By reading newspaper I can know headline in the world more deeply and discover new connection between one news with other one. So I want to continue this good custom forever.

 

9.    Club

Because I disturbed in losing weight and boxing, I still can’t decide which club to belong. I want to belong club such as drama, ESS, guitar and so on. Anyway, I’m going to belong happy, pleasant club. To help, to please, to amuse someone, I’d like to make an effort cooperating with members.

 

10.           Making many friends

To my happy, everyone in my belonging department, Social Engineering are nice person. So through many events, cooperating with each other, I want to make friends gradually. In Tsukuba university, I want to meet many people understanding cultural and linguistic diversity. Outside of university, also I’m going to treasure Japanese proverb “Once in a lifetime chances”. To advance 1step, first, I’ll study English hard.
